Vertical Search

What is Vertical Search?

Vertical search - also known as speciality or topical search -  refers to a type of search engine that focuses on a specific industry or content type.

Unlike general search engines such as Google, which aim to search the entire web, vertical search engines narrow their scope to a limited data set or information.

These niche search engines cater to specific interests or needs by providing targeted search results within a particular domain.

For instance, there are vertical search engines dedicated to eCommerce product searches, vacation rentals, travel planning, job hunting, local businesses, and more.

Google, although primarily a general-purpose search engine, also incorporates vertical search tools within its network, such as Google Images, Videos, News, Maps, Books, Flights, and Finance.

These vertical sections utilize Google's core search functions but are tailored to specific user requirements within designated categories.
