What are Total Clicks?
"Total Clicks" is a number that shows how many times people have clicked on something like an online ad, a link in an email, or a button on a website.
This number is used to see how well digital marketing campaigns are working. When someone clicks on an ad or link, it means they took an action.
However, just because someone clicks doesn't always mean they then went through with a purchase or other desired action. They might click but then leave the website.
Total Clicks in Google Search Console
Previously, Google Search Console had a "Total Clicks" metric related to clicks from Google search results. Now, it is replaced with some more specific metrics:
Total Impressions - How many times your website appeared in search results
Average Click-Through Rate (CTR) - The percentage of times people clicked your site link when it appeared
Average Position - The average position your site showed up in the search results
Clicks - The total number of clicks to your site from search results
These metrics allow website owners to analyze how well their site is performing in Google search and make improvements to get more clicks and visibility.
In simple terms, Total Clicks measures the engagement and interest generated by marketing efforts across ads, emails, websites and search results.
While not all clicks lead to desired actions, tracking total clicks is still valuable data.
