What Is Negative SEO?
Negative SEO means trying to make a competitor's website do poorly or even get penalized by search engines like Google. The goal is not to improve your own website's ranking but to intentionally damage another website.
People who do negative SEO may try sneaky or spammy tricks to get a competitor's site in trouble.
For example, they could link lots of bad websites to the site they want to hurt. Or they could copy content from other sites to overload the competitor's site so search engines see it as low quality.
In the past, it was easier to do these shady tricks. But search engines have gotten better at catching negative SEO and not letting it impact sites as much.
Still, some people try it to try to take down competitor websites they see as threats. Overall though, negative SEO is an unethical practice that honest websites avoid.
