What is an Algorithmic Penalty?
An algorithmic penalty refers to the negative impact on a website's search engine rankings based on updates to Google's search algorithms.
These penalties are automated and different from Manual Actions, which are imposed by Google’s employees after carefully reviewing the sites.
If a website is hit by an algorithmic penalty, it sees a drop in its rankings or a complete removal from the search index.
The site owner might attempt to request Google to lift the penalty. However, such a request - unlike manual action - usually will not result in removing the penalty.
