What is JSON-LD?

JSON-LD - JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data - is a lightweight data structuring format or a scripting language that easily writes and reads structured data.

In terms of SEO, JSON-LD is often implemented using the Schema.org vocabulary - a collaborative effort by Google, Bing, Yahoo!, and Yandex.

It simplifies the implementation of data by allowing the markup to be pasted directly anywhere on a web page, rather than wrapping it around HTML elements as Microdata does. 

This helps improve the search results by matching the searcher’s intent with the content by providing contextual information to the search engines about a web page using a semantic vocabulary of tags.
