Search engines consider content to be "thin" if it lacks substance, originality, and true value for users. Some clear examples of what would be classified as thin content include:

Pages that are mostly just duplicated or replicated content from other sources without adding any new insights or value. Or pages with extremely minimal content that doesn't comprehensively cover a topic - just a few sentences or loosely related keywords stuffed in unnaturally.

Affiliate pages comprised mostly of affiliate links and little original prose providing value would also likely be deemed thin content. The same goes for doorway pages created solely to funnel visitors to other sites rather than providing a good experience themselves.

Essentially, if it doesn't adequately answer search queries and offer a satisfying, in-depth experience for users, it will probably be regarded as thin, low-quality content that doesn't deserve to rank highly.

On the flip side, content that comprehensively covers a topic, provides unique analysis or perspectives and is clearly written with human readers in mind tends to be viewed as valuable, non-thin content.

Google has really cracked down on thin content through algorithm updates, so creating robust, original, and insightful content tailored to keeping users engaged is crucial these days.
